Alright, somehow we need the ability to chat when online at the same time. Now, us simply using the same IM would work. Personally, I have AIM, Windows live, and Skype.
So, you want us to list one or two ways to contact via chats?

Well, I'm AnemoneFlynn on AIM, or on GoogleTalk. Easy-peasy, and stays with my alter ego.

I have no internet life. It would make it much to easy for the Law to track me down.
Shocking, you admit it would be easy for the law to track you if they had the help of little o'l internet. I'm apppppalllled.

    ~Nickels aren't worthless
No point in making it easy.

I merely said too easy. It still would be difficult, but I do them a favor by adding difficulty. If they ever caught me, they would be out of a job.

I have AIM, but I'm never on.

Dont forget you can add things like your chats to your profile by going into account\personal information and using the key / value pair. under key put AIM and value put your screen name, or you could put Site and key and the url to your website under value. You can add as many of these as you like.

However, these are currently visible to anyone who looks at the site.  Your email is private, but be careful what chat names you put out, as they will be public.

I'm sorry I've been absent for so long, I've been crazy busy with AP classes and getting ready for college. How is everyone?!

    I MISS YOU GUYS!!! haha.

    Hey, Dak.

College coming up soon?  Do you have a major yet?  I'm doing great, just working as usual.

Yeah, college is coming up this fall, just looking to graduate in May. I'm going to major in English and creative writing, haha.

    How has work been going?

Hey, Dak, long time no see.

Work's good -- funny about the English & creative writing; I'm considering going to college for an English degree, myself.  That or another of a couple things I'm thinking about.  Computers, business, something interesting.  :-)

Holy moly, where did you all spring up from?!?!

How are all of you guys doing?!?!
Man, it's really quiet around here ... where did everyone go? The place was buzzing just a few days ago!

I was just wondering the same thing... I'm waiting for more people to write related randomness..

    Randomness... =)
This is weird... For some reason I couldn't see some of these comments until just now. Huh.

Oookay. Somebody take the Juggernaut off caffeine, please.

Who gave him caffiene?  That seems an irresponsible act.  The perpetrator shall be hunted down and their work burned in effigy!!

    Effigial Anemone

    IT WASN'T ME!!!

    I'm totally innocent.

    You just think that.

    Hey, Everyone!

So, I've finally created, which is my personal fiction / poetry, etc. site.  I will be moving / copying most of my work over there in the coming months.

I'm not abandoning WrittenBy - far from it.  In my own mind, I see this as rather the next step in the 'evolution' of the idea.

There are several ways I can both attach my site to this, and help anyone who wants create a blog-type site for themselves.

First, though, here are the reasons that stand out most in my mind for changing the format of WrittenBy:
    - comments on posts, not as part of the thread
    - the ability to subscribe via email or an rss feed to updates on the site, and no need to check back

I would like to propose that Written By Trial and Error, while remaining in its forum state for now, also become a sort of membership which blogs can join.  For example, we would list / link to member blogs, and they could have a badge of sorts to display on their front site.

As far as attaching my site to this under my name, and helping anyone who wants to create a blog format for their own work: Because I am 'in charge' of the hosting and development of this site, I have access to all the background.  It would be very easy for me to create places such as ''  You have probably seen this model in places such as, etc.  I have no desire to become that large or crazy!  What I mean is, I can create a blog just like mine under any of those subdomains.  I believe the forums have not lost their usefulness - they are at least still great for joint stories.

What do the rest of you think?  I am happy to discuss it here, or we can have an open Skype session or something like that.  My goal is not to suddenly take control of and change WrittenBy - rather, I want to help it to its full potential.

I should have also said: if you want a custom domain, like, that can also just stand alone (and doesn't require typing for a year like, then I am more than happy to help you with that.  I don't have any kind of hosting costs established for that type of thing - I'll have to talk to GloriousSwain and see what he thinks.  To purchase a domain, though is about $10 for the year.  I can either purchase it for you, and build it, etc., or I would be happy to help with one that you've purchased yourself.

    Food for thought.

    Breakfasted Anemone

I like all your suggestions about making it a blog etc, and specifically where people have their own stories, for having comments separate from the main post.
That all sounds fine to me. : )
